A high-level delegation from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) visited KSA to explore cooperation in Earth observation, satellite technology, and STEM education.

The Delegation

The DLR delegation, led by their Director of Space Strategy and International Relations, visited KSA facilities in Nairobi. Germany is one of Europe's leading space nations with a €4 billion annual space budget.

Areas of Cooperation

Discussions focused on Earth observation data sharing, technical training for Kenyan satellite engineers, joint research projects in remote sensing applications, and support for Kenya's next-generation satellite development programme.

Next Steps

An MoU was signed outlining a framework for cooperation over the next five years, including DLR-funded training positions for Kenyan engineers and joint workshops on SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data processing.
