About Us
The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) was established in 2017 under the Science, Technology and Innovation Act to coordinate and regulate all space-related activities in the Republic of Kenya, promoting space science and technology for national development and the benefit of all Kenyans.

Our Mission
Kenya's relationship with space stretches back over six decades. The Malindi Ground Station, established in 1964 as part of Italy's San Marco programme, made Kenya one of the first African nations to participate in space operations. Today, the Kenya Space Agency builds on this extraordinary heritage to develop indigenous space capabilities.
Our mission is clear: to promote, coordinate and regulate the development and management of space science and technology programmes for Kenya's socio-economic benefit. From monitoring agriculture and environment through Earth observation, to building Kenya's satellite constellation, to training the next generation of space scientists, KSA is building Africa's space future.
Kenya's equatorial location provides a unique strategic advantage, making us an ideal partner for satellite launches and ground tracking operations.
Our History
KSA serves as the focal point for coordinating all space-related activities in Kenya, aligning national efforts with international space programmes and treaties. We ensure Kenya's voice is represented in global space governance.
We develop and promote the application of space science and technology for socio-economic development, from precision agriculture to disaster management, from urban planning to wildlife conservation.
KSA oversees the development of Kenya's indigenous satellite programme, ground infrastructure, and human capital, building the expertise and technology that will position Kenya as a leader in Africa's space sector.
Through STEM education programmes, the Kenya Space Discovery Centre, and partnerships with universities, we are cultivating a new generation of Kenyan scientists, engineers, and space professionals.

Strategic Priorities 2024–2030
Deploy a multi-satellite constellation for real-time monitoring of agriculture, environment, and disaster preparedness across East Africa.
Build indigenous capability in satellite design, assembly, integration, and testing, moving from CubeSats to microsatellites.
Leverage space data for Kenya's Big Four Agenda, food security, healthcare, housing, and manufacturing.
Train 500+ space scientists and engineers by 2030 through university partnerships, scholarships, and international exchange programmes.
Strengthen partnerships with NASA, ESA, JAXA, ISRO, and African space agencies to advance continental space goals.
